A field settling through unequal resistance.

Settled Field VII brings copper, oxblood and blue-black teal into a structure shaped by displacement rather than symmetry. A broad translucent copper plane passes obliquely through the composition, changing density as it encounters the darker regions around it.

The surrounding masses do not form a continuous base. Teal rises at different heights across the field, while oxblood and muted mineral tones occupy separate intervals to the left. Their staggered positions interrupt the dominant plane and prevent the structure from resolving around a single axis.

The slight inclination of the copper field is central to the work. It introduces directional pressure into an otherwise stable system, while the darker stepped regions absorb and redistribute that pressure across the composition.

The work becomes complete when the dominant movement can remain visible without requiring further displacement.
