A field held through staggered vertical pressure.

Settled Field VIII brings copper, oxblood and blue-black teal into a structure where large planes remain distinct but cannot be read independently.

A broad copper field passes through the centre of the composition, changing density as it overlaps darker regions. Oxblood gathers toward the left, while separated teal masses rise at different heights across the lower and right-hand structure.

Smaller olive-grey intervals interrupt these larger fields and redistribute visual weight without becoming focal points. The geometry remains asymmetric, with no single region able to settle the composition on its own.

The work becomes complete when these unequal vertical forces can remain in tension while the field as a whole stays stable.
