A field held in continuous deformation.

Structural Tension IV brings a small number of broad regions into a tightly governed relation. A large dark field sweeps through the composition while surrounding pale intervals compress, redirect and partially contain it.

The tension is carried through curvature. Boundaries narrow, flare and turn as neighbouring pressures reduce the available space. On the left, a pale region opens into a constrained passage. Toward the lower right, several fields converge into a near-closure that becomes the most concentrated point in the work.

No single element stands alone. Each region derives its form from the forces acting around it. The dark central field changes width and direction as it moves through the composition, while the lighter regions create release without ever becoming passive background.

The work becomes complete when the field can sustain this degree of compression while remaining open. Stability is achieved not through balance, but through the exact holding of unequal pressures.
