A field held at the point of maximum strain.

Structural Tension I reduces the composition to a small number of interacting regions. Dark and pale fields curve toward one another, narrowing into a compressed passage where opposing forces become most concentrated.

The tension is carried through deformation rather than through visible structure. Boundaries bend, tighten and change direction as neighbouring regions constrain them. A dark central interval is drawn toward an acute point while the larger surrounding fields remain broad and resistant.

Mass and void remain equally active. The pale regions create release without becoming passive background, while the darker forms carry pressure through changes in curvature and proportion.

The work becomes complete at the point where the field can sustain its deformation without either collapsing or returning to equilibrium.
